Resource Management Librarian
Description
The Moustakas Johnson Library is housed in an attractive setting in the main campus building and provides access to e-resources tailored to support graduate-level teaching, learning, and scholarship in clinical psychology; a subject-specific print collection of 9,000 volumes; and a collection of psychological tests and assessment materials for training. MSP librarians provide exceptional reference services, research support, and integrated library instruction that enhance the experience of students and faculty. Library staff are valued for being highly collaborative, approachable, and creative members of the MSP community.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
The Resource Management Librarian will evaluate, develop, and implement technologies designed to support the discovery and sharing of library resources. These responsibilities will include:
- Managing the integrated library system
- Managing metadata across systems to maximize discoverability of resources
- Interfacing with Ebsco, ProQuest, ProQuest Ebooks, Psychotherapy.net, and other relevant vendors, including the management and negotiation of license agreements and contract renewals
- Ensuring uninterrupted access to e-resources via EZproxy
- Troubleshooting access to electronic resources
- Fulfilling annual institutional reporting requirements to ACRL and Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS)
Shared Duties and Responsibilities:
MSP librarians collaborate in many areas to provide a high level of service to the institution. This position will partner with the User Services Librarian and the Administrative and Technical Services Librarian in the following areas:
- Developing and monitoring the library budget
- Interlibrary Loan fulfillment
- Library website maintenance and development (hosted on Google Sites)
- Procuring copyright permissions for course syllabi and ensuring access to course pack resources and assigned readings
- Providing occasional reference and research support to students and faculty
- Collection development
- Circulation of physical materials
- Coverage of the library circulation desk during hours of operation
- Involvement in institutional committee work
Required Qualifications:
- An ALA-accredited graduate degree in library or information science OR a graduate degree in an allied discipline plus equivalent knowledge and experience
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in library technical services, electronic resource management, and/or library systems
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering a climate of inclusion and diversity
- Familiarity with administration of a discovery service (particularly holdings management)
- Experience interfacing with technical support desks
- Experience utilizing vendor administrator functions and usage statistics to support library operations, inform collection development, and provide reports
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Highly collaborative and service-oriented
- Strong Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite skills
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Characteristics:
- Expert skills in searching major scholarly databases
- Cataloging in OCLC’s Metadata (both copy and original)
- Experience selecting and transitioning to new library systems
- Familiarity with OCLC’s WorldShare
- Familiarity with American Psychological Association (APA) Style
