Manager, Maker & Media Commons

MRU Library is seeking a Manager to oversee the Library’s Maker and Media Commons. Reporting to the Associate Dean Public Services, and working closely with assigned faculty and staff, the person in this position will oversee the implementation of effective support and services in the Commons.

The Maker and Media Commons includes a Maker Studio, VR technologies and services, audio production spaces and podcasting / audio infrastructure and support. The services, supports, and instruction provided in the Commons support faculty and students across disciplines in their academic work. Learners build competencies in making, audio production, virtual reality, prototyping and design.

Leading a team of staff members, and working closely with the assigned Librarian, the Manager ensures the spaces and services associated with the Maker and Media Commons are operating efficiently and effectively. They oversee all aspects of the operational management of the Maker Studio and media commons spaces including staffing, technology, service and support models, programming and space considerations.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication and collaborative skills and a strong user-centered focus. They will be experienced in managing staff in the context of a rapidly changing environment. They will be aware of trends in post-secondary teaching and learning, and will be energized by the work of creating and maintaining spaces and supports that inspire creativity and learning.
