The Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History invites applications for a Web & Social Media Archivist. This four-year term position will lead a collaborative project to document the complexities and first-person perspectives of American women, through web and social media archiving. Working closely with staff across the museum and the Smithsonian, as well as with external partners, the archivist will define collecting areas, identify potential collecting opportunities, establish methodologies, and apply technology to capture, manage, describe, and preserve web-based content.
Competitive candidates will have knowledge of web archiving tools and best practices, experience collaborating with other partners, and grounding in a relevant discipline such as women’s studies, gender studies, or critical media studies.
Starting Salary GS-11 - $78,592 per year, plus benefits, with promotion potential to GS-12.
