The NC State University Libraries invites applications and nominations for the position of Graphic Design & Multimedia Strategist in our External Relations department. External Relations is the communications, promotions, media relations, exhibits, and publications unit of the Libraries. They are responsible for the writing, design, style and branding, social media, photography, and videography associated with those initiatives. They collaborate across the organization to create the assets needed to maximize user and community engagement with everything the Libraries has to offer, to raise the Libraries profile both on- and off-campus, to tell the Libraries’ stories of impact, and to help advocate for funding and support.

This position is based in North Carolina. This position is eligible for flexible hours and a hybrid work environment, based on departmental and operational needs. This position will have occasional responsibilities to cover Libraries events after normal business hours and on weekends.
Responsibilities:
This position designs, produces, and edits a variety of graphics and media for the Libraries’ print and online publications, email outreach, social media, website, digital signs, and large-scale visualization walls, working in a complex environment with a range of hardware, software, and systems such as those supporting content management in all formats. They participate in planning and development of the Libraries’ public website and social media presence, promoting creativity, quality, integrated imagery and graphics, engagement, and ease of discovery and use.
This position collaborates closely with the Libraries’ Community Engagement and Development teams to broaden the Libraries’ public reach and donor base and strengthen the commitment of existing donors. They work with the User Experience team on issues of signage and web design, as well as with the Learning Spaces & Services team to produce engaging orientation materials and other outreach and informational content. The position deeply considers how their approach to their daily work reflects and advances the Libraries’ core values of equity, diversity, and inclusion, creating an environment and community that is welcoming for both patrons and colleagues alike. The position participates on Libraries-wide committees, task forces, and teams. The incumbent is expected to be active professionally and contribute to developments in the field. This position reports to the Director of External Relations.
