Library Applications Developer
Description
The University of Alabama Libraries seek a talented, driven, and experienced technologist to work in a collaborative, and research focused technology environment. Reporting to the Technology Development Manager, this position will be responsible for designing and implementing customizations to specialized academic research library platforms used by the UA research community. The candidate will design, develop, and support complex library specific open-source applications such as ArchivesSpace, Open Journal System, VuFind, Dspace, Omeka S, and WordPress. The candidate will assist in performing sophisticated technology need assessments for business units and implement desired functionality. The position will also assist in system integration projects between the multiple academic research platforms supported by University Libraries.
The position is also the principal developer for select academic research projects managed by the University Libraries Alabama Digital Humanities Center. The position assists in engineering, developing, and implementing technology solutions for classroom research projects with partnering academic departments. The incumbent may also be involved in developing for approved open-source projects such as FOLIO Library Services Platform and other open-source community-based projects.
The position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement.
