Description

Reporting to the Computer Applications Specialist, the Web and Digital Collections Developer is responsible for creating and maintaining code for the District’s library websites while also developing and implementing applications and programs as well as working with faculty and staff to curate and develop the District’s digital collections.

Essential Performance Requirements*

  • Develops and maintains the District’s library websites, library discovery system, and other web applications using HTML, CSS, JavaScript (including jQuery and Angular), and JSON
  • Builds dynamic web applications using jQuery/JavaScript and JSON data from RESTful APIs (AJAX)
  • Designs and maintains Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) for library and related websites
  • Designs Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant web applications with responsive design
  • Attends technical conferences and seminars to keep abreast of new programming and software developments
  • Tests web applications and programs for accuracy and completeness based on users’ specifications
  • Troubleshoots broken links in the library system, resolves issues if possible, reports issues to suppliers or vendors if necessary, provides faculty, staff, and students with accurate linking information
  • Troubleshoots technical issues and successfully resolves project obstacles and challenges utilizing exceptional problem solving and decision-making capabilities, allowing for the development of creative solutions for process improvement and understanding user requirements
  • Assists in maintaining code and procedure documentation for web software, applications, and programs for use in maintaining the knowledge base and guides for infrequent processes

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree
  • Five (5) years’ working experience related to the Essential Performance Requirements

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a computer science-related field or equivalent experience in web-based programming
  • Experience with library systems, especially Alma, Primo, and Oracle Business Analytics
  • Experience with XSLT, responsive web design, and ADA-compliant web design
  • Experience with Linux, Apache, MySQL/MariaDB, and PHP (LAMP)
