Index Data is seeking a talented, independent systems thinker to fill the role of DevOps Engineer. We are a software and services company delivering solutions for the future of libraries. Index Data is a leading force in the development of the FOLIO and ReShare products and community, and has been delivering Open Source software for over 25 years. 

As a DevOps Engineer you’ll help create the tooling and infrastructure our customers rely on. You’ll be able to leverage and extend your expertise in helping teams create, build, test, deploy, and run mission critical applications. This is the opportunity to blend your library experience with state of the art cloud environments, tools and workflows.

We are looking for someone who has a wide range of experience and expertise. Recognizing that no one has experience with everything, ideally you have experience with as many of these as possible: 

• Linux System Administration

• SCM - Git/GitHub

• CI/CD – Jenkins, GitHub Actions 

• Infrastructure Automation – DevOps patterns with Ansible (which we use, but concepts from Puppet and Chef can transfer)

• Containers and Orchestration – Kubernetes/ECS, Docker, Flux, Rancher

• Security -- SSO, SAML, Shibboleth, LDAP, OAuth

• AWS - EC2, RDS, MSK, Cloudwatch, OpenSearch, RedShift, Multiple AZs/Multi-region concerns 

• Experience programming in languages like JS, Python, PHP, Ruby, Perl

• DBA - particularly PostgreSQL

• General Application Administration (users, groups, application settings, licensing, etc.) for Slack/Github/Confluence/JIRA

• Experience supporting and extending Library tools like VuFind and Blacklight

• Experience supporting Libraries
