Web Applications Developer
Description
The University of Pittsburgh, Health Sciences Library System is looking for an independent, self-motivated Web Applications Developer. This individual will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing HSLS’s online presence and associated technologies.
Job Description:
The Web Applications Developer will research, install, configure Drupal modules and develop custom Drupal modules to expand HSLS’s web capabilities while ensuring all new functions are 508 compliant, and meet or exceed HSLS organizational needs and Pitt security standards. The position will work closely with the Knowledge Integration Librarian to configure and test new services and upgrades to existing systems. The Web Applications Developer will possess strong programming and coding skills with knowledge of Linux/Apache and Windows servers, SQL, PHP, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Symfony and Solr.
Additionally, the Web Applications Developer is responsible for leading HSLS’s 508 compliance and other technology accessibility issues and distributing this information to content owners.
Required Qualifications/Experience:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Information Science, Computer Science, or other related field.
· Previous Digital Library development experience.
· Drupal Symfony, Solr, Linux/Apache servers, SQL, PHP, JavaScript, HTML, CSS.
Preferred Qualifications/Experience:
· A candidate with sincere interest in technology as well as the ability to research emerging technologies, participate as part of a team in planning, development and implementation of complex computing solutions in a continuously evolving environment and excellent problem-solving skills is preferred.
· The ability to learn new languages and tools is also vital to continued development.
Work Schedule: Standard Hours: 37.5, Monday-Friday, 8 am-4:30 pm, hybrid or remote options available.
Occasional involvement in support and maintenance tasks schedule outside of the 8 am-4:30pm business hours is required.
