Metadata Librarian
Description
The University of Nevada, Reno Libraries seeks a Metadata Librarian to lead and enhance discovery of campus and Library resources. This tenure-track position reports to the Head of Metadata and Cataloging and works closely with staff in Digital Services, Special Collections and Archives, the Basque Library, as well as campus and community partners, to organize and lead projects related to description of digitized and born-digital resources, campus research and publications, and linked-data opportunities. The Metadata Librarian defines and implements metadata schemas and standards for physical and digital assets, creates and maintains controlled vocabularies, oversees database clean-up and maintenance activities, and identifies areas of growth or experimentation within the scope of metadata discovery.
The Metadata Librarian oversees one full-time staff member and is supported by student workers. This position is a 12-month, full-time tenure-track/tenured faculty position that requires scholarly activity and publication, and service on professional and university committees.
