Information Technology Developer

Description

The Information Technology Developer has a broad responsibility for maintaining and developing technical infrastructure at The Carpentries. They will work under the supervision of the Director of Technology to maintain and implement new features in AMY, the web application that we use to manage data on our community members and workshops. They will also participate in the system administration of The Carpentries infrastructure.

As an Information Technology Developer, you will collaborate with members of the Core Team and the lead AMY developer to improve the existing code base and implement new features in AMY. AMY is built using Django and relies on the following tools and technologies: Docker, Redis, PostgreSQL, AWS, jQuery, bootstrap, select2. You will also work within the Infrastructure Team to develop and implement a comprehensive plan for the administration of The Carpentries systems. This will include the maintenance of Linux servers running on AWS, the backup of critical systems and data, the implementation of our security policies, as well as the support and training of Core Team and community members.
