Vanderbilt University Libraries seeks an energetic and talented colleague for the position of Geographic Information Systems Coordinator. Reporting to the Director for Scholarly Communication, the GIS Coordinator provides consulting services and educational outreach to departments and schools at the university as the leader of a library-wide GIS program. As a member of an evolving scholarly communications team, the GIS Coordinator will provide consultation and support to faculty, staff, and students across the university to assist with their teaching and research. The Coordinator must work collaboratively with other departments—academic, administrative, and library—to promote the use of GIS as a research tool and methodology. The GIS Coordinator is responsible for planning, creating, implementing, and teaching GIS technologies and facilitating software and data access through both individual and classroom training sessions. The Coordinator will play an active role in sharing information, training, developing service priorities, conducting research into emerging GIS standards, and creating proposals for further development and support. The GIS Coordinator will also act as the manager of the Census Information Center and will work in conjunction with the Census Bureau to serve Census data users on campus. The CIC manager will provide consultation and support with regard to accessing and manipulating Census data.
