Front-end Developer
Description
The River Campus Libraries (RCL) at the University of Rochester (UR) seeks a creative and collaborative front-end/user interface developer to join the Digital Initiatives department. Reporting to the Director of Digital Strategies, the position leads front-end development and programming for the libraries’ suite of enterprise platforms, including the digital preservation platform, the digital exhibits and collections platform, the institutional repository, the Libraries’ premier discovery portal (DiscoverUR), and other front-ends for enterprise systems supported by the DI department. The position also provides guidance around compliance with accessibility and other WCAG standards. The incumbent will have the opportunity to experiment and prototype interface enhancements using emerging technologies like XR/VR and explore how those technologies might enhance future user experiences and discovery of research information. The position works with a team of ten DI staff to provide a full complement of services to enterprise systems and library data and collections. We are looking for a collaborative and creative person with an enterprise mindset, who can help us with front-end development using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Angular, React, Adobe Creative Cloud and more to make measurable improvements across our user interfaces.
