GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Digital Resources Management Librarian implements, maintains, supports, and enhances a wide range of technologies and systems to provide innovative library services and ensure access to the library’s extensive range of online information resources and digital collections. 

 

This position plays a key role in the identification, development and adoption of new and emerging technologies at the library, and supports the campus community in the use of existing information technology as well as data and computational literacy. 

Special Schedule Requirements

Occasional nights and weekends may be required.

Education & Experience

Master’s degree, with a Master’s in Library and Information Science from an ALA-Accredited program required. A minimum of three years of directly relevant professional experience working with information technology, digital initiatives, web services, and/or library systems required.  Experience with lifecycle management of electronic resources preferred. Experience supporting and maintaining library automated systems, institutional repositories, digital collections, exhibit, or publishing software, and archival management systems including but not limited to such systems as Alma, Primo, Omeka, and Islandora desirable.

Knowledge & Skills

Knowledge of library, communication, and web standards such as, OpenURL and link resolvers, proxy systems, SUSHI, linked data, OAI-PMH, REST, HTML, CSS, and XML, as well as knowledge of relational database systems required. Experience with scripting languages, python or R preferred. Knowledge of Drupal, Islandora, and other content systems preferred. Strong service orientation, excellent oral and written communication skills, and excellent project management skills required. Commitment to ongoing professional growth and development required.

Key Responsibilities

Key Responsibility

Provide lifecycle management of the library’s electronic resources, including journals, ebooks, and databases. Troubleshoot access and connectivity issues, and participate in the ongoing assessment, selection, and integration of these resources.

Key Responsibility

Work closely with the Head of Library Systems and Web Services and the library’s Digital Initiatives Group to articulate a clear, compelling and sustainable vision for digital initiatives and emerging technologies in the Library.  Collaborate across the library to identify, develop, and implement new digital initiatives and maintain and enhance existing digital projects. Participate in projects to improve and optimize workflows through automation and system integration.

Key Responsibility

Provide ongoing support for various library systems, including the integrated library system, archives management system, institutional repository, and interlibrary loan management system. Assist in maintaining the library’s various web properties, including both open-source and proprietary platforms.

Act as a liaison to the library and campus community for data and computational literacy initiatives. This may include spearheading specific workshops, consultations, and/or cross-campus collaborations.
