Primary Responsibilities

Investigate, plan and implement innovative uses of current and emerging technologies in the provision of information services and resources

Teach in an expanding information literacy program, with a particular focus on promoting digital literacy

Assist with the creation and maintenance of digital learning objects (e.g., online tutorials, website) and with the management of e-resources (e.g., link resolvers, database platforms)

Share responsibility for the ongoing development of Kent Library website content

Provide reference services both online and in person, which may include nights and weekends

Work closely with faculty and students across the university (i.e., face-to-face, online, and regional campuses)

Contribute to library and department committees and activities, and to the University through faculty governance, committees, councils and other working groups

Required Qualifications

Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited program by January 2013 (Degree must be from a regionally accredited or internationally accredited/government certified university)
Experience with and interest in emerging technologies for libraries and higher education
Experience with the creation of digital learning objects (e.g., websites, online tutorials)
Basic familiarity with the management of electronic resources
Familiarity with the instructional application of ACRL information literacy standards
Knowledge of a wide range of print and electronic information sources
Strong service orientation, flexibility, and excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
Demonstrated initiative and ability to work well as a member of a group and individually
Demonstrated commitment to collegiality when interacting with others within the University community
Demonstrated commitment to working with multi-cultural populations and awareness of issues affecting women and minorities
