Amherst College invites applications for the Collection Development Librarian position. Given Amherst’s distinction as one of the most diverse liberal arts colleges in the country, the successful candidate will demonstrate the ways in which they bring value to and will work towards supporting a broadly diverse community.

The Collection Development Librarian coordinates the selection and acquisition of diverse, inclusive, and accessible resources needed by the campus community to further the College’s mission through the library’s collections. Serves as the primary internal and external collection development contact and engages in proactive, deliberate collection development of both print and continuing resources. Manages the budget allocation and dispensation of funds for print and electronic materials, and is responsible for managing invoice processing and annual fiscal year rollover. Serves as the top-level advisor on acquisitions questions, and performs higher-level acquisitions activities including maintaining vendor relationships, while delegating appropriate tasks. Oversees collection analysis and assessment in order to make data-based decisions regarding the stewardship of the library's acquisitions budget and its collections.
