Research Solutions Consultant
Description
NC State University invites applications and nominations for the position of Research Solutions Consultant. This position is part of a new university initiative led by the NC State University Libraries, the Office of Information Technology (OIT), and the Office of Research and Innovation (ORI) to develop a robust Research Computing & Data Facilitation Service (RCDFS) serving NC State’s research enterprise.
The technological infrastructure needed to conduct successful, efficient, secure, and productive research is becoming increasingly complex. The Research Solutions Consultant will strive to reduce the burden placed on researchers and departmental support staff by serving as a resource to analyze requirements, make recommendations for appropriate technologies, and propose design solutions that meet individual project needs. In close consultation with service providers, the Research Solutions Consultant will aim to provide cost-effective solutions leveraging existing university infrastructure and services, as well as services and technologies not currently offered by a university service provider, such as external cloud computing platforms.
This originated as a search for two Research Solutions Consultants and we have one remaining available position. This position will be placed in the Digital Library Initiatives Department within the NC State University Libraries and reports to the Director, Research Computing and Data Facilitation Service. Both Research Solutions Consultants will work collaboratively with staff across the university to form the core of the Research Computing & Data Facilitation Service.
Review of applications is underway; position will remain open until a suitable candidate is found. We will be flexible during this time and will conduct most or all of this search remotely. See vacancy announcement with application instructions at https://jobs.ncsu.edu/postings/140993
