Position Summary

This position is on site at our Cullowhee campus.

This position is located in the Web Services Unit of the Library under the supervision of the Web and User Experience Librarian.
 

The Web Services Unit maintains and improves the library web presence, as well as conducts user experience studies and surveys. The mission of the Web Services Unit is to keep the Library’s online presence functional, up-to-date, and user-centric. The purpose of this position is to assist the Web and User Experience Librarian in carrying out the many responsibilities of the Web Services  Unit in ensuring that the library’s web presence is properly maintained, assist with making improvements when needed and to help the Web and User Experience Librarian conduct usability and user experience studies.  The successful candidate should have experience with web development languages including HTML, CSS, Javascript and php.  The candidate should also be familiar with creating and maintaining web pages within a content management system. The employee must use professional judgment to determine the best way in which to resolve problems and make changes to web pages in a timely fashion. The employee should also be proficient in the use of the web authoring tools (such as Dreamweaver), image creation software (such as Photoshop), and good file management and site management practices. The employee might be called on to provide individual or group training sessions in any of these areas.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from a two-year technical college with a major in an Information Technology field and one year in the information technology field related to the position’s role; or graduation from a four-year college or university and one year experience in the information technology field related to the position’s role; or graduation from a four-year college or university with a major in an Information Technology area. Related information technology experience may be substituted year for year for the required education.

Preferred Qualifications

The successful candidate should have experience with:
 

-Current web standards and best practices, including accessibility standards 
 

-Web authoring software
 

-Browser compatibility knowledge for all platforms/major browsers 
 

-Web programming languages, including PHP and Javascript 

Management prefers candidates with more than general knowledge of the following areas:
 

-Database management programming and languages, such as SQL and Microsoft Access
 

-Understanding of server-side architecture, including Apache frameworks and cPanel servers 

Salary Band Range $32,473 - $81,000

Salary GradeFor administrative purposes during the implementation of Career Banding this journey level position is considered a Salary Grade 72.
