The University of Arkansas at Little Rock invites applicants for a full-time Archivist (R0004417) position at its primary facility at the Center for Arkansas History and Culture in the RiverMarket District of downtown Little Rock. UA Little Rock operates its archives in partnership with the Central Arkansas Library System with which it works on a variety on initiatives.
Applicants are expected to provide exceptional patron assistance, collection development advice and have knowledge and use of manuscript processing techniques including familiarity with DACS and EAD for digital encoding of manuscript and archival finding aids. Applicants will also assist in the coordination of educational and public outreach programs and must have excellent communication skills. The ability to work effectively and collegially across units and departments is essential. Part of the position’s responsibilities will include taking the lead on sorting, categorizing, arranging and describing large political collections.
Experience with ArchivesSpace is preferred. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy.
Required education and experience: Master’s degree, plus two years related experience; must be highly motivated, flexible and have the ability to work in a variety of educational settings; must have demonstrated interpersonal skills, sensitivity to and the ability to relate to program participants; must have a personal vehicle for travel; must have a valid driver’s license; must have the ability to work some hours outside of normal office hours, evenings, and weekends.

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock invites applicants for a full-time Metadata Archivist (R0004416) position at its primary facility at the Center for Arkansas History and Culture in the RiverMarket District of downtown Little Rock. UA Little Rock operates its archives in partnership with the Central Arkansas Library System with which it works on a variety on initiatives.
Applicants are expected to provide exceptional patron assistance, collection development advice and have knowledge and use of manuscript processing techniques including familiarity with DACS and EAD for digital encoding of manuscript and archival finding aids. The Metadata Archivist contributes to quality control of metadata operations and maintains documentation on best practices, and provides ongoing support of the Center’s use of ArchivesSpace. The Metadata Archivist is expected to collaborate across the unit on ArchivesSpace implementation and use. Applicants will also assist in the coordination of educational and public outreach programs and must have excellent communications skills. The ability to work effectively and collegially across units and departments is essential. Part of the position’s responsibilities will include taking part in an executive committee directing a large National Endowment for the Humanities Grant.
