Digital Production Coordinator
Description
Summary
The Digital Production Coordinator provides primary oversight for Tulane University Libraries' digitization processes and creation and maintenance of digital collections and objects in the Tulane Digital Repository (TDR). This position reports to the Head of Digital Scholarship and Initiatives. The Digital Production Coordinator is responsible for the digitization of analog-format materials and the ingest of digital files. This position manages the Tulane University Digital Library and Theses and Dissertations Archive. The position actively works with collection administrators; the Digital Production Coordinator supervises, mentors, and evaluates professional staff.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Demonstrated proficiency with digitization of analog materials and using digital image manipulation software
Familiarity with photography and lighting
Knowledge of discovery and administrative metadata standards, particularly MODS and Dublin Core
Proficient with scripting and programming languages such as XML, PHP, Perl, Shell, XHTML, and/or CSS
Core Technology Competency Level III (https://library.tulane.edu/sites/default/files/core_technology_competencies.pdf)
Documented proficiency with current and emerging technologies and their application in academic libraries
Familiarity with journal and ETD publishing and peer review
Knowledge of quality control as applied to digitization projects in an academic environment
Proficiency in hiring, training, scheduling, and supervising
Proficiency in project management
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships
Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
Excellent organizational and documentation skills
Required Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's Degree OR
High School Diploma or Equivalent with 6 years of directly related experience
Preferred Qualifications
Three years of experience in an academic library or other digital production work with metadata
Experience using Islandora, Drupal, Open Journal Systems, and WordPress
Proficiency with Phase One cameras and Capture One software
Experience with usability studies
Awareness of copyright laws and rights management issues in a digital environment
