Library at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, the position of a
Computer Scientist (DevOps Engineer)
(salary grade 13 TV-L)

for the collaboration on the international open source project FOLIO is available. The position is to be
filled at the next possible date and for a period of 2 years.
Your tasks:
• Further development of the FOLIO deployment environment in cooperation and exchange with the
FOLIO Community Team
• Participation in the design and implementation of the Cl/CD pipeline for code integration in the agile
development process of the FOLIO project
• Communication and coordination of requirements between the development teams in the project as
well as with those involved in the project at Mainz University Library and in Rhineland-Palatinate
• Conception and provision of virtualized environments for development and as a prototype of
technical operation and for dissemination in the project for the international FOLIO community
Your profile:
The prerequisite is a completed scientific university degree (master, diploma) in computer science or a
related field or equivalent skills and experience.
In addition, good knowledge of the principles of Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery and
Continuous Deployment is expected, ideally with Jenkins and GitHub. Knowledge of container
virtualization and its orchestration, e.g. with techniques such as Docker, Kubernetes or Rancher as
well as automation solutions, especially with Ansible, is also desired.
Furthermore, you enjoy software development in current programming languages and frameworks for
the development of interactive user interfaces. Knowledge and enthusiasm for working in open source
communities is expected.
The position advertised requires good english communication skills, commitment and interest in new
technologies.
