Digital Library Technologies (DLT), a unit of Information Technology Services (ITS) at The Pennsylvania State University provides IT systems and services to support the teaching, research, and outreach mission of the University Libraries and Penn State. DLT is seeking a resourceful, highly motivated and proactive Systems Administrator with experience in Unix/Linux and networking technologies. The successful candidate will be a member of the DLT Infrastructure Services team, responsible for the delivery and administration of business critical infrastructure services. DLT orients projects and activities toward a service management approach in order to improve service efficiency, develop a more collaborative team structure, improve resource management, and deliver a more transparent organization. The successful candidate will be expected to create and maintain documentation; work effectively in a team environment; lead and be collaborative; be flexible; have specialized curiosity and the desire to learn about new technologies and practices; strive to exceed customer expectations; and have an appreciation for working with diverse audiences. This job will be filled as a level 2, or level 3, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires an Associate’s degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 2. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. Proficient knowledge, experience and aptitude are expected in Unix/Linux, scripting, networking, common Internet protocols, and open standards. The candidate must demonstrate a commitment to continuous service improvement; upholding organizational processes; excellent problem solving skills; and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
