Electronic Resources Librarian

Western Carolina University's Hunter Library seeks an Electronic Resources Librarian to provide leadership and professional expertise in the management and coordination of library electronic resources. This new position will activate and manage access to a wide range of licensed electronic resources such as databases, journals, and books. The position will also serve as the go-to person for all library staff for resolving problems related to access. Other responsibilities include supervising one full-time staff member; maintaining the Innovative Interfaces Web Access Management (WAM) table and WebBridge link resolver, and EBSCO's ERM Essentials; collecting and tracking usage data; database administration; coordinating tasks related to e-resources among all the various constituents; and working collaboratively within the Western North Carolina Library Network on e-resources issues. The successful candidate will be professionally engaged, forward-thinking, collaborative, a! nd have the ability to initiate and complete projects in a timely and independent manner.

This twelve month, tenure-track position reports to the Department Head for Content Organization and Management. The library's size and culture allow for involvement in many areas, including providing library reference and/or instruction service. Library faculty are highly engaged in library planning and policy-making.

About the Library Hunter

Library has a long, respected record of providing excellent service to the university and region. The library is dedicated to the thoughtful integration of print and digital resources and to supporting and developing the general, information, digital, graphic, and visual literacy of students and the teaching and research needs of faculty and staff. The library has 19 tenure track faculty members, 30 staff members, and an annual budget of approximately $4.5 million. The library contains approximately 800,000 print and electronic volumes and provides access to more than 45,000 journals through print subscriptions and electronic databases. The library is an active partner in the Western North Carolina Library Network and participates in the Carolina Consortium.

Salary and Benefits

Salary and rank are commensurate with qualifications. Salary Range: $40,000-$49,000. This is a twelve month, tenure-track position with a generous 24 days of vacation leave annually.

Minimum Training & Experience Requirements

MLS from an ALA accredited program; demonstrated mastery (through experience or coursework) of current e-resources concepts related to trends and practice; excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work collaboratively with colleagues; potential to meet the library's requirement for scholarship and service.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience managing e-resources in an academic library; experience managing resources in a link resolver; experience working with III Millennium; experience with electronic resource management systems; experience working with proxy servers; experience working with publishers and vendors; supervisory experience.
