Archivist for Textual Digitization
Description
The Archivist for Textual Digitization (“ATD”) is responsible for digitizing, ingesting into DAMS storage, preserving, describing, and publishing online the Archives’ textual holdings in all formats. The ATD reports to the Supervisory Archivist for Photographic and Textual Digitization (“Supervisory Archivist”) and serves as the program’s point person for on demand digitization and description of textual materials. In this role, they respond to digital reproduction requests from researchers, colleagues, senior staff, and NARA personnel; triages the textual digitization on demand queue; and ensures that all requests are responded to in a timely manner, following established protocols and standards.
In the course of digitizing and creating robust, standards-based descriptive records for textual materials, the ATD works with specially protected holdings, declassified materials requiring reintegration into the open collections, and selected materials from the Ernest Hemingway Personal Papers.
