Description
Responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of the Sound FX library, from importing and editing new sound effects, to ensuring that all archived sound effects are in the latest standardized format. Maintains the Sound FX management application Soundminer Pro, trains, administers Soundminer Pro mySQL databases, and provides technical support to editors. Works closely with Sound Designers to help facilitate their recording and sound effects needs. Listens carefully to sound effects and describes them with a variety of keywords. Schedules, maintains, and tracks usage of all Sound Library field recording rigs. Syncs and distributes portable storage with the latest sound effects for offsite use. Provides in-house demos and training of relevant sound effects programs, devices, and recording rigs. Maintains and updates Aspera Server by adding and removing users/workgroups.Serves as backup for the Archivist and helps out the Audio/Video Transfer department when assistance is needed. Archive operations includes archiving completed projects to tape, restoring projects from tape, creation of Fiberchannel volumes, mapping of Fiberchannel volumes, and un-mapping of Fiberchannel volumes. Ensures timely and error-free backups, delivers media to clients, accurately updates the Archive Tracker database, labels/organizes archival media and reports problems related to software/hardware to the IT department.
This position must adhere to production schedules & deadlines. This position works 40 hours per week and reports to the Audio Transfer Supervisor.
