Metadata Librarian for Special CollectionsREQUIRED:
Master’s degree from a school accredited by the American Library Association. 2 years professional cataloging experience in original cataloging of multi-formats post Master’s degree. Experience creating, editing, and transforming MARC and/or non-MARC metadata.
Experience working in an automated library system (preferably Innovative Interfaces) and/or experience with a digital collections creation and management tool, such as CONTENTdm or DSpace. Familiarity with authority control.
PREFERRED:
Broad understanding of emerging trends in digital technologies and library and archival practice.
Working knowledge of MARC21 and non-MARC metadata schema including but not limited to EAD, MODS, METS, Dublin Core, etc.
Working knowledge of LC classification and subject headings.
Familiarity with AACR2, RDA, DACS, and the FRBR concepts.
Experience with controlled vocabularies or taxonomies, such as LCSH, MESH, etc.
Familiarity with HTML and XML.
Aptitude for learning new technologies and metadata standards.
Knowledge of archival theory and practice and technological applications related to archives, special collections, and records management.
