Description
Union Institute & University, a national university for adult students offering programs of study leading to bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees is seeking an experienced individual for a combination Systems/Reference Librarian position at its Cincinnati, OH headquarters.Primary responsibilities include:
- Management and maintenance of library automation technologies including proxy server, EOS integrated library system, research database web links, link resolver tools, ILLIAD, and other electronic resources and utilities
- Serve as the primary library technical support contact for externally hosted research database and other library vendor electronic resources, online subscriptions, and utilities
- Design and maintain the library website and troubleshoot library software and network/server problems
- Work to bring new technologies to library staff and users and provide training in same
- Sharing in the provision of library reference and instructional services
- Serving on appropriate university committees/task forces
- Assisting in collection development efforts
- An ALA-accredited Masters in Library Science degree
- Several years professional experience in library systems and automation technologies, preferably in a college or university setting
- Excellent library technology knowledge and skills including, but not limited to, strong familiarity with current information/library technology systems software and instructional support applications, proxy server software, link resolver and other web-based library applications, online database searching, design of instructional support materials
- Excellent organizational, analytical, problem solving, interpersonal, and communication skills, and a commitment to the principles and practices of online pedagogy and information literacy
- Ability to work with diverse student, faculty and staff
- Excellent research, teaching, presentation, and communication skills
- Experience in, and preference for, working in an online academic library environment
- Demonstrated ability to work independently
- Ability to travel to UI&U academic centers as necessary
