Libraries Software Developer
Description
Reporting to the Libraries IT Head of Core Technology and Applications, the position utilizes best practices in software development and project management to create and maintain library applications and systems that support scholarly research, digital asset management and preservation, and access to digital collections.
The Libraries Software Developer is responsible for providing the programming, database, and technical expertise needed for the development, integration, and support of a wide array of library systems, applications, and services. The incumbent supports software projects at all stages of the software development life cycle, working collaboratively with users and colleagues to ensure successful outcomes. S/he adapts new and existing web tools to facilitate library resource discovery and access; explores new technologies to identify opportunities for application; develops software integrations with existing university and library systems to improve user experience; and writes computer programs and scripts to create efficiencies in library operations and internal processes.
The incumbent actively contributes to the mission, goals, and values of the Libraries in positive ways. S/he helps maintain a team-oriented, customer-focused Libraries IT department committed to technical and service excellence, ongoing professional development, and continuous improvement.
