Network Administrator Senior
Description
The University Libraries at Western Michigan University invites applications for a Network Administrator Senior to join the IT Services team in support of the Libraries’ mission to empower its community to discover, explore, and shape the information universe for current and future uses.
Primary responsibilities include administering and managing a VMware virtual environment consisting of three physical locations with a total of four hypervisors and three SANs, 18 CentOS virtual servers, six Windows 2016 virtual servers, and six Windows 10 virtual clients to ensure high levels of reliability, availability, serviceability, and security; administering and managing the Linux clients in that environment; configuring and maintaining vital parts of the application stack including Apache, PHP, Tomcat, and MySQL; configuring and maintaining self-hosted and cloud-hosted third-party applications; and troubleshooting and resolving network problems. Monitoring and administration are currently aided by Ansible, Nagios, NXLog, Graylog, and TICK.
All members of IT Services are expected to collaborate in and lead department-wide projects. This position also works closely with others in the department and the Libraries to support new initiatives and mission-critical and time-sensitive services like public and departmental printing.
