Reporting to the Data Center & Networking Services Manager, and as a member of the Digital Initiatives and Information Technology (DIIT) Core Operations team, the Operations and Storage Sysadmin (OSS) works within both virtualized and traditional ecosystems, provides expert management of servers and storage systems, maintains Library infrastructure, implements security solutions and remediates issues, coordinates activities and changes with other campus entities, and serves as a technical expert for UCLA Library projects and services.

The OSS actively monitors key systems, collects metrics, and conducts analysis of this data on a continuing basis; interfaces with project managers, developers, and fellow System Administrators to architect systems and designs workflows in support of operations. Documents processes and procedures and ensures tasks are reproducible.

Resolves complex issues where analysis of processes and data requires in-depth evaluation of a variety of factors.

The OSS is the architect for data integrity, including system backups, file replication, and snapshot generation, as well as for developing policies, best practices, and workflows in these arenas.

Contributes expert technical knowledge to DIIT infrastructure design and troubleshooting, and trains DIIT staff in systems configuration, troubleshooting and support.

Serves as a contact to campus technology organizations, collaboratively develops solutions and represents the Library's interests in collaborative endeavors.
