Summary:
The Health Sciences Libraries at Temple University seek an enthusiastic, versatile and skilled librarian to coordinate the Libraries’ new data services program. Based at the Simmy and Harry Ginsburg Library, this new position will develop and expand the library’s data services offerings as well as provide reference, research, and instruction. Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Head of Research, Education & Outreach, the Research & Data Services Librarian supports the learning, research, and clinical activities at the Health Sciences Center. The Librarian will be responsible for providing education, liaison and research services as well as building a data services program at the Health Sciences Libraries. This position coordinates the Library’s data policies, provides training on data resources and tools, and works collaboratively with the other health and science librarians across the University Libraries. The Health Sciences Libraries serves the information needs of Temple’s Health Sciences Center, including the Schools of Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Podiatry, nine departments in the College of Public Health and the Temple University Hospital. Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
ALA - accredited Master’s Degree in library/information science and two years of related experience. Experience with MS Office and familiarity with both Macintosh and PC desktop machines.
Required Skills and Abilities:
*Demonstrated experience in higher education (university or college) library setting.
*Demonstrated experience with electronic information resources.
*Knowledge of data management resources and tools
*Knowledge of technology and applications used for online collaboration and communication (such as WebEx, Skype, or Google Hangouts).
*Excellent oral and written communication skills
Preferred Skills and Abilities:
*Experience in an academic health sciences library environment and/or teaching hospital library.
*Demonstrated experience with PubMed, Web of Science, CINAHL or other biomedical information search systems.
*Experience collaborating with faculty in research.
*Demonstrated teaching experience.
*Commitment to providing responsive and innovative services to a culturally and racially diverse campus community.
