Description

Responsible with the Associate University Librarian (for Technical Services) to develop policies, procedures, goals, and objectives for the management of serials and electronic resources.

 

Serves the lead role for the procurement and management of licensed electronic resources according to established guidelines. Orders, renews, and processes all current online and print subscriptions, including claims for non-receipt of issues and replacement of lost issues. Gathers, analyzes, and reports use statistics and monitors pricing patterns of serials and electronic resources to support decision-making. Maintains knowledge of trends in the acquisition and management of serials and electronic resources through participation in regional and national meetings, webinars, training, and list serves. Serves as research partner with selected academic departments and participates in bibliographic instruction. Trains and supervises student assistants assigned to serials and electronic resources. Performs other duties as assigned. Reports to the Associate University Librarian (for Technical Services).

 

Experience:

Two or more years experience related to management of serials and/or electronic resources in an academic library. Experience in working with a diverse student body, faculty and staff. Some supervisory experience preferred.

Experience with the Ex Libris Library Management System (ALMA) preferred. Familiarity with databases, web-based resources, and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office software is preferred. Experience with Primo, OCLC, and a hosted service is a plus.

Requires master's degree in Library/Information Science from an ALA-accredited program.

Requires interpersonal communication skills; ability to work with a minimum amount of supervision; ability to interact with a variety of clients. Requires problem solving, organizational and analytical skills, and an aptitude for detail-oriented work. Must have ability to be flexible with the facility to work both independently and collaboratively in a changing environment. *Regular reliable attendance is required. *Requires some general reference service, including occasional weekend/evening hours on a rotating schedule. *This position is designated as security sensitive (Mod) and requires a criminal background check.
