Hamilton College seeks a creative, talented, and energetic individual for appointment to the role of Instructional Designer in the division of Library and Information Technology Services (LITS). We are looking for a collaborative professional who has the ability to bring new ideas to the forefront, as well as motivate and inspire others. The successful candidate will assist the Research & Instructional Design Team, a blended team of librarians and educational technologists, to advance innovative learning initiatives across the curriculum. The Research & Instructional Design teams supports both traditional and new models of student centered teaching, learning, and research in the liberal arts. The Research & Design Studio (RDS), located in Burke Library, provides the College community access to the expertise and technologies needed for library research, 3D scanning and printing, virtual reality, large format poster creation, and more. The team hosts a variety of innovative programs, such as “Tinker Tuesday” maker-events and a Research & Technology workshop series for faculty, students, and staff. Current team initiatives also include participation in the HP-Educause Library of the Future project, the implementation of Hamilton’s Digital Commons, and the ongoing development of LITS’s Research & Digital Media Tutor program. The successful candidate must possess strong research and technical skills, excellent problem solving abilities, and a committment to life-long learning.

Originally founded in 1793 as the Hamilton-Oneida Academy, Hamilton’s 1,350-acre hilltop campus overlooks the New England-style Village of Clinton, New York, in close proximity to the Adirondack Park. Its open curriculum gives students the freedom to tailor their own liberal arts education within a research- and writing-intensive framework. The highly selective college enrolls 1,850 students.
