Working independently and with initiative, the Research Data Specialist position is a non-supervisory position that reports to the Digital Learning and Scholarship team leader. The RDS will provide leadership and expertise in the areas of quantitative and qualitative data analysis, geospatial data visualization, working in collaboration with campus-wide initiatives around research data management, providing guidance and creating best practices for ethical data creation, cultural analysis and dissemination. 

The RDS will be creatively engaged with faculty and students involved in digital scholarship, supporting and serving as a resource to campus members developing digital projects and publications, including those with data visualization or GIS components. This individual is expected to establish partnerships with faculty throughout the University in order to (1) identify emerging research or instructional needs; (2) create competencies around data literacy and use, such as standards around informed consent or ethics of web scraping secondary data; (3) maintain awareness of federal agency requirements regarding data management, including funding requirements for data integrity and access; (4) assess usage and impact.

Qualifications Required: Master’s degree in a relevant discipline.
