The Penn Libraries Digital Library Team is looking for a self-motivated, detail-oriented applications developer to join our team; see details and a link to the full job description below:

Duties:

This position manages software development for multiple complex digital library projects that provide access to resources crucial for faculty, students, and staff, such as discovery and researcher profile systems. Acts as lead programmer and designer including evaluating software solutions, from commercial and community/open source projects, designing systems architecture and configuring and deploying software. Performs coding, database design, data management, and workflow analysis. Manages project teams and initiatives including developing technical specifications, management of project timelines, developing documentation, providing testing and quality assurance, and managing technical deployment into production environment. Works with staff from across the Libraries, at all levels of the organization, as well as with faculty and researchers, project managers and developers across campus; works with developers and technical architects from other institutions and third party collaborators. Represents Penn Library projects at conferences and partner meetings. Researches, recommends, manages, and maintains technical metadata standards, implementations and quality for structured data repositories involving ILS, RDF and MySQL databases, Solr/Blacklight. Participates in the strategic planning for IT operations in the University Libraries.

Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years of programming or systems analysis experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, are required. A Master’s Degree or more and a minimum of 5 years of experience strongly preferred.
