Job Summary 

This position manages the suite of digital library platforms and services provided by FALSC. Supervises digital platforms staff. Serves as the lead for Islandora development and implementation, and actively engages in the Islandora community on state and national level. Sets strategic direction and oversees projects to ensure that the goals of the unit are met.

Minimum Qualifications 

Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two (2) years of experience, or a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization with four (4) years of experience.

Preferred Qualifications 

• ALA-accredited (or foreign equivalent) master’s in library or information science and/or advanced or other terminal degree;
• Minimum of five years of professional experience in digital asset management systems, digital archive software, or digital publishing;
• Demonstrated leadership in the field of digital library initiatives (conferences, publications and national/international committees).
• Experience managing large-scale software development efforts.
• Experience managing day-to-day work of technical staff in digital library services.
• Demonstrated experience of digital library/archives standards, technologies and best practices.
Essential Functions

Description of Job Duty 

Provides direction and oversight for the staff of the Digital Platforms workgroup. Works in conjunction with the Director of E-Resources and Digital Services to plan, develop and direct the work of this group. Ensure that staff has the training and resources they need to provide current and prospective services to the libraries in the areas of digital content management. Set strategic directions and prioritize work among many competing demands. Help staff develop goals and objectives, and monitor their completion. Maintain effective communications with appropriate FALSC staff, and the Innovation Institute’s Department of Information Technology, with management and digital preservation. Description of Job Duty 

Manages the FL-Islandora project, which includes continuous development of new features and functions, system scaling, and analyzing utilization of system resources. Actively engage with the Islandora community. Represents FALSC on the Islandora Foundation’s Roadmap Committee. Works closely with FALSC’s Islandora development partners at Florida State University. Engages with individuals in the State University System and Florida College System on digital services and projects. Schedules and conducts meetings as appropriate.

Keeps abreast of developments in the digital library domains, and seeks mutually beneficial partnerships and collaborations with appropriate partners. Engages in national and consortia efforts in the digital library domain. Contributes to developments in the field of digital librarianship through active professional engagement, research, presentation, and publishing in appropriate venues.

Description of Job Duty 

Provides leadership and coordination for planning, implementing, and training for the adoption and integration of new digital technologies and standards. Plans, develops, recommends and implements effective technological responses; conducts technology research and identifies solutions to existing technical issues; analyses data, processes and procedures relevant to library customer service and operations to ensure the delivery of high-quality, customer focused digital services; assists in ensuring the Library’s digital services appropriately meet the needs of the community.

Provide project management for large and medium-scale development and implementation projects. Ensure project-wide communication and coordination.
