Wichita State University Libraries (UL) invites energetic, innovative, adaptable, and learner-centered professionals to apply for the Coordinator of Library Instructional Services Instruction, with an appointment as Assistant Professor. As a member of the Research Services Group, the Coordinator reports directly to the Associate Dean of Public Services and provides leadership to the WSU Libraries instructional program by developing strategies for integrating information literacy into the curriculum, by applying learning theories and instructional technologies effectively into the teaching and learning process and by assessing the Library Instruction Program's impact on student learning. Also serves as liaison librarian for the College of Education. 12-month contract; excellent professional development support, vacation and benefits, including TIAA-CREF. Faculty librarians have tenure-eligible appointments with rank. Offers of employment are contingent on satisfactory completion of a criminal background check as required by the Kansas Board of Regents.WSU is an AA/EOE. Requirements
Master's degree from an ALA-accredited Library/Information Science program and a minimum 2 years of experience providing library instruction as well as demonstrated experience using current educational technologies and multimedia tools to deliver or enhance teaching, learning, and/or user services in both physical and online environments and demonstrated experience working well in teams.
The successful candidate will have knowledge of the contemporary principles and practices of library instruction, reference services, and professional standards; knowledge of emerging trends and best practices in academic librarianship, instructional design, and outcomes-based assessment practices; demonstrated excellence in oral and written communication skills; demonstrated ability to work well with diverse populations; demonstrated ability to plan, document, and complete projects; evidence of potential to maintain an ongoing program of scholarship at a level that would merit tenure and promotion; and strong interpersonal skills.
