Description
The Associate Registrar for Rights & Reproductions is responsible for the administrative coordination of the Peabody Museum for Archaeology and Ethnology/Harvard University’s digitization and reproduction services. The Associate Registrar contributes to and implements policies and procedures relating to intellectual property interests in the Museum’s images, processes and fulfills rights and reproduction requests for the Peabody Museum’s collection for both internal and external clients, coordinates photography/imaging needs, and documents image creation, management, and distribution. Reports to the Senior Registrar. Knowledge of digital resource management standards and best practices for digital capture, scanning, metadata creation, description, access, storage, and preservation, and software and copyright laws.
Familiarity with museum databases (The Museum System preferred) and with museum and archival cataloguing procedures highly preferred.
Ability to handle fragile collections in keeping with museum and archival standards.
Excellent organizational skills with particular ability to prioritize work in an environment with multiple and conflicting interests
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines, and excellent communication skills.
Three or more years of experience in a rights and reproductions position, preferably within a museum or image archive.
