Position Summary: Reporting to the Director of Research Technology Services in NYU IT, the Research Data Storage Architect will be responsible for coordinating the building and management of the storage infrastructure environment for services in support of the research data lifecycle. This infrastructure will support researchers and library curators during the full research lifecycle, including storage, data processing and analysis, publication, preservation, and data discovery and dissemination. This individual will work closely with storage, networking, and system engineers; digitization experts; archivists; web developers; functional requirements writers; and project managers in both IT and the Libraries in building and managing the service environment.

Qualifications/Required Education: Bachelor's Degree

Preferred Education: Master's Degree in related field

Required Experience: Minimum of 5 years related experience, experience with management of data storage systems, running Linux/Unix servers and application systems, experience working with identity management tools, e.g. Active Directory, LDAP, provisioning services, experience with scripting, e.g. Python, shell, PHP

Preferred Experience: Experience in an academic environment working with researchers and/or research data, experience with large-scale data storage systems and databases (big data)., and experience with managing projects.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Conceptualize, design, develop, test, validate and implement integrated systems and services, collaborate and coordinate goals and work efforts with a variety of colleagues in multiple organizations, lead projects of moderate complexity, communicate effectively with leaders in computational research as well as non-technical scholars, develop technical build documentation, and ability to prioritize tasks.
