Special Collections Librarian/Assistant Librarian to provide technical planning, implementation, project management, supervision, problem-solving and quality control for Special Collections digitization projects; serve as the departments liaison to and Associate in the Libraries Center for Digital Scholarship, where the majority of digital processing takes place, and collaborate with CDS staff; share administrator duties for the Libraries archival content management system, Archon; prepare online exhibits of digitized materials, both in connection with physical exhibits and as online only; provide training and supervision of staff and students working on digital and other assigned projects; develop, maintain and evolve the online presence and services for Special Collections; participate in grant development efforts; maintain awareness and develop in-depth knowledge of new technology, relevant national standards and best practices, assessing and integrating these into department practices; participate in Special Collections reference and instructional duties; promote the Libraries digital collections through classroom demonstrations, in meetings with donors and colleagues, and at professional conferences; and assist with other duties as needed.

Require:  ALA accredited MLS degree; digital imaging training and/or experience; experience with web design and management; experience with digital asset management systems such as Archon and Dspace; knowledge of database management principles and software; familiarity with applicable provisions of copyright law; knowledge of best practices in digital project creation, management, and preservation; familiarity with metadata standards; aptitude for complex, analytical work with attention to detail, demonstrated problem-solving skills, and flexibility; ability to work independently and prioritize work to ensure that departmental and library goals are realized; excellent communication and interpersonal skills both orally and in writing; ability to work effectively in a team and service oriented environment; ability to meet the Miami University criteria for advancement and promotion of librarians as outlined in the Libraries Appointment, Rank and Promotion System (LARPS) .

Desire: Training and/or experience working with archival and special collections materials; training and/or experience with scripting languages such as Javascript, MySQL, and/or PHP; training and/or experience converting analog video and audio content to appropriate digital formats; reading knowledge of at least one non-English language, preferably Latin, French, German, Spanish or Russian.
