FREELANCE WEB FRONT-END DEVELOPER WANTED (temporary, telework)

Date posted: November 17, 2015 Closing Date: November 30, 2015

POSITION DESCRIPTION For a state agency, make a good interface better. We have built a portal for searchable digitized newspapers using an open-source MySQL/Python app, which runs on Linux and is hosted on Amazon Web Services. We have installed a professionally-designed interface, however, we would like to customize it further and make some improvements to the user experience. The Contractor will collaborate with staff to plan and implement the changes, accessing the site using Bitvise SSH or a similar product. These changes include altering HTML and CSS; revising HTML templates within the Django system; adapting the current interface to create a unique visual identity for the site; and improving other aspects of the user experience.

The contractor will: * Revise specific HTML pages and templates, including adding or changing text, images, and styles. In some cases, you will be asked to devise and implement a better page layout. * Implement and test a font using Google WebFonts. * Develop and implement a color palette and add code for background colors, etc. * Assist with selection of and implement a backdrop image. * Rename files and folders as requested, modifying paths in code to ensure continued 100% functionality, and advise staff on cleaning up the file structure.

REQUIRED College degree plus 4 or more years of professional experience in web design. Expert-level HTML and CSS. Experience with Bootstrap and Google WebFonts. Familiarity with Django templating. Excellent communication skills and experience collaborating remotely. Familiarity with open-source projects and GitHub.

LOCATION We are in Montana; you can be anywhere.
