William Paterson University invites applications for a twelve month tenure-track position as a Digital Initiatives Librarian.Reporting to the Assistant Directors of the library, the Digital Initiatives Librarian is responsible for coordinating the planning, implementation and monitoring of digital projects, providing leadership in advancing infrastructures that support digital collections, and collaborating with various Library departments to configure and implement systems that realize the full potential of digital objects. S/he assists in identifying grant opportunities, and provides outreach and training to various constituencies, such as faculty and administrators. The successful candidate participates in departmental planning and projects, as well as the User Education and Liaison programs. Serves on Library, University, regional and national committees as appropriate.
ALA-accredited MLS, or equivalent (by time of appointment) is required. A second graduate degree is required for tenure. Knowledge of current trends in digital preservation, digital image file formats, and related software; experience developing web applications and demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member are required. In addition, must possess excellent oral, written communication and interpersonal skills; strong commitment to service and professional development and demonstrated ability to meet tenure requirements.
Experience working with media formats and digital platform technologies; knowledge of library-related metadata standards and project management experience are preferred. One or more years of experience working with digital preservation software; discovery applications; knowledge of grant development and experience in training are also preferred.
