The University of Arkansas Libraries seek applications from dynamic, innovative, technologically-savvy, service-oriented candidates for the position of Head of the Physics Library.  The head will provide services for physics and mathematics programs and interdisciplinary programs closely aligned with physics (nanoscience, space and planetary sciences, microelectronics-photonics, and other related disciplines).  Reference and research services, instruction on resources, liaison and outreach activities, and collaborative collection development are the core responsibilities.  Others include leadership and oversight of daily operations, supervision of 3.5 FTE employees, and contributing to the goals of the University Libraries. Qualifications.  Required:  A master’s degree from an ALA-accredited program; a bachelor’s degree in physics, biophysics, astronomy, space and planetary science, or a related science discipline or significant experience with providing relevant science reference services; knowledge of the scientific research process; and demonstrated knowledge of emerging technologies used in the delivery of information services.  Preferred:  Supervisory experience; a graduate degree in physics or a related science discipline; and two years of experience as a science librarian. Rank and Salary:  Tenure-track, twelve-month faculty appointment at the rank of Assistant Librarian / Assistant Professor.  Salary: $51,000.
