Essential Functions
Responsible for the organization, processing, management, preservation, digitization and building of a high quality archives, special collections, and digital collections, and developing services which will enhance the impact of archives and collections on our students, faculty, scholars and researchers. The University Archivist provides vision and leadership in directing and managing program operations and personnel by setting the program goals, policies, best practices, and assessment metrics for program success and sustainability, by identifying program resource needs, and by facilitating collaborations and partnerships with library and campus units. Identifying, collecting, and providing access to institutional information assets of long-term value in all types including administrative records, faculty collections and University publications. Hiring, training, and supervising student workers and interns. Working with colleagues to develop practical solutions for capture and preservation of core institutional content that is born digital. Working with faculty and Library colleagues to develop creative and sustainable ways to integrate University Archives resources into the curriculum. Responding to internal and external reference requests concerning University history. Identifying and procuring new collections. Assisting in departmental and Libraries' fundraising, grant-writing, and development efforts. Participating in Library-wide activities including committee work, special projects and programs.  

Minimum Qualifications
ALA-accredited Master's degree in Library/Information Science or an advanced degree with relevant experience in archives and continuing education. Three years of experience working as an archivist in an academic or research setting.  

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or higher in history. Experience with archival principles and practices including description, processing, reference, conservation, and outreach. Experience with technology applications in an archives or library, including imaging and editing. Experience with archival materials in a wide variety of formats such as manuscript, audiovisual, digitized or born digital materials. Experience developing digital collections. Familiarity with current trends in academic research and scholarly communications. Experience with principles and practices of records management. Experience in grants development and fundraising. Experience working with donors of archival materials. Familiarity with technology tools used with archival content, e.g., content management tools, such as contentDM and ArchivesSpace.  

Salary
Commensurate with education and experience. Twelve month, tenure-track position.

Faculty: Benefits include the accumulation of one sick leave day per month and thirteen (13) University holidays. Other benefits include medical and life insurance (shared cost with the university), retirement, optional 401k, and educational benefits. Deferred income and benefits over 12 months.
