Description
The University of Virginia Library is a vibrant research library that collects, curates and facilitates online access to a wide variety of digital and analog content in many formats. The Library also provides faculty, staff and students the ability to describe and contribute scholarly work that further supports the University's research and scholarly objectives. The employee in this position analyzes requirements, evaluates solutions and primarily designs and develops software systems to support description, ingest, annotation and access tools (search, exhibit, programmatic access). This position is part of a team of software engineers focused on search and discovery technologies and works with a broader Library staff to ensure a productive online experience for University faculty, staff and students. The employee in this position is also expected to achieve and maintain knowledge of search and discovery technologies supporting research libraries.Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, Computer Engineering or related discipline. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Salary and Benefits: Competitive depending on qualifications. This position has University Staff status with excellent benefits, including 22 days of vacation and TIAA/CREF and other retirement plans.
