Metadata and Digital Services Librarian
Description
This is a great opportunity for an experienced, creative, and service-oriented Metadata and Digital Services Librarian. This position will make library and information resources more discoverable thereby facilitating and maximizing use of information resources. This position co-leads the library web committee and is responsible for migrating the health sciences library faculty research portal to an open-source platform Position responsibilities:
• Demonstrated experience performing copy and original cataloging of electronic/digital resources • Knowledge of and proven ability to apply/use current cataloging standards, practices, and tools for original and complex cataloging, including but not limited to RDA, AACR2, MZRC21 formats • Maintain the ILS, knowledge base, and other cataloging-related systems • Experience recognizing and resolving catalog errors • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills together with attention to detail for complex, possibly repetitive, detail-oriented work • Ability to participate in multiple concurrent projects in a given timeframe, monitor project workflow, provide regular reports or updates as necessary, and meet project deadlines • Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated and able to work creatively, collaboratively, and effectively both independently and as a team member or leader • Excellent organizational and time management skills • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communications skills • Strong service orientation • 2+ years with original cataloging/metadata creation experience in an academic library within the last five years Loyola University Chicago is a nationally recognized urban university founded in 1870 in the Jesuit, Catholic tradition.
