The Fort Worth Library is seeking applicants for the position of Senior Librarian/Digital Resources.

The person selected for this position will be an energetic self-starter who promotes the Library’s customer service goals through effective management of the Library’s digital resources. The qualified candidate will have the ability to understand the Library’s operations and promote the Library’s service mission through customer-oriented digital services and will have a proven track record of working productively with library customers, staff, and vendors to ensure the best possible customer experience.

The Digital Resource Librarian is responsible for the Library’s online public access catalog and related services, the Library’s e-resources, and assigned areas of the print and media collection. This Librarian manages the Library’s new Polaris PowerPAC catalog and ancillary components; selects, manages, promotes and evaluates online databases, e-books, and other e-resources; produces and analyzes statistical reports on OPAC and digital resource usage; manages contracts for e-resources; maintains knowledge of developments, issues, and trends in Web sites, OPACs, and e-resource management; responds to customer queries; troubleshoots and resolves e-resource and OPAC problems for public and staff. This Librarian also evaluates and selects materials in assigned collection areas; manages materials budgets for e-resources and other collection areas; pursues continuous learning in areas of responsibility and growth; and participates in the Division’s business planning and evaluation activities.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Master’s Degree in Library Science PLUS two (2) years of increasingly responsible experience using Internet and other digital resources in a public service environment, developing and coordinating Web site content, managing digital resources, and/or administering OPACs.

Working Conditions:

Library environment; exposure to computer screens.

Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for moderate or light lifting; sitting, walking or standing for prolonged periods of time.


Job Preferences

Preference may be given for additional education, knowledge, experience and/or certification as it relates to the position.

Ability to speak, read, and write Spanish strongly preferred.
Additional coursework in communications, journalism, information technology, or related field preferred.
Excellent writing and grammar skills strongly preferred.
Evidence of continuing education in relevant areas strongly preferred.
Experience with bids and contracts in a municipal environment.
Troubleshooting and resolving e-resource and OPAC problems.
HTML and Web programming languages.
Working in and selecting materials for a large, multi-branch public library system.
