The Wyndham Robertson Library at Hollins University invites applications for the position of Information Technology/Liaison Librarian.  Candidates are sought who are committed to cross-functional librarianship, interested in working in a collaborative library environment, and eager to participate in the daily life of a small, liberal arts university community.  Early career librarians are encouraged to apply.

Reporting to the University Librarian, the Information Technology/Liaison Librarian will provide leadership in the development, implementation, maintenance, and use of library electronic resources and technologies (50%).  The librarian will manage the library web site and electronic resources; have primary responsibility for the ongoing maintenance of the library’s Innovative Interfaces integrated library system; provide first-tier troubleshooting for staff and public PCs in the library; serve as liaison to the Information Technology department on library technology issues; and advocate for the interests of library technology through awareness of emerging trends, standards, and technologies.  He/she will also serve as a liaison librarian (50%) providing instruction, reference, and collection development services to a designated academic division (current responsibilities are the departments in Natural Sciences and Mathematics).  The librarian will provide regular reference desk support, including one evening shift per week during the regular academic year.

Qualified candidates must have an ALA-accredited master’s degree in library and information science or other related master’s degree; experience or training in managing library information technologies; demonstrated knowledge of web site management; excellent oral and written communication skills; interest and ability to provide reference, instruction, and collection development; demonstrated ability to work both collaboratively and independently; and a commitment to professional development.  Successful candidates must also be motivated self-starters who possess a high level of energy, flexibility, and creativity.  Candidates with a strong knowledge of or experience with an integrated library system are preferred.
