 Seton Hall University Libraries seeks a Librarian/Archivist primarily responsible for the arrangement and description of manuscript, institutional, print, photographic and related special collections, including the creation and publication of finding aids. This position also requires work on the management of digitized and born-digital materials, including digitization and digital preservation efforts. 

Under the Director of the Archives and Special Collections Center, the successful candidate will be primarily responsible for the arrangement and description of manuscript, institutional, print, photographic and related special collections, including the creation and publication of finding aids. This position also requires work on the management of digitized and born-digital materials, including digitization and digital preservation efforts. Additional responsibilities include collection arrangement, documentation, and workflows, collaborating with the Archives and Special Collections Center staff and library faculty, administration and staff on projects related to archival based research, preservation efforts, and display of archival materials. Other related duties as assigned. This individual will oversee and collaborate on collection processing decisions and initiatives, and will maintain and revise the Processing and Procedures Manual as necessary. Direct supervision of student workers, interns, and volunteers is required. Other duties related to the operations of the Archives and Special Collections Center will be assigned on a continuing basis including regular reference desk duty. 

An MLS or MLIS from an ALA accredited institution with a concentration in Archives Management (or strong training and experience in this area) is required. Excellent interpersonal, organization, communication skills and knowledge of basic archival principles are required. Experience processing collections in an academic setting, a thorough knowledge of Encoded Archival Description (EAD), the Archivists' Toolkit (or similar program), CONTENTdm (or similar), library content management systems (such as SpringShare's LibGuides) are required. Demonstrated ability to meet a high standard of quality work independently and expeditiously is required, along with coordinating and training to meet a heavy workload.  The successful candidate should also demonstrate an interest in continuing professional growth and development, maintaining knowledge and skills through involvement in professional organizations or continued education, and supporting a collegial and collaborative work environment. 

A second masters in a related discipline is desired (and required for tenure). Knowledge of Describing Archives: A Content Standard is strongly preferred. Experience with scanning, digital preservation, and the processing of born-digital archival materials is strongly preferred. Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and programming languages such as XSLT is preferred. Knowledge of a non-English European language (such as Italian, French, Spanish, or Latin) is desired. Scholarship and service will be required for tenure.
