Description

A non-tenure track professional position to develop, manage and promote the Library's digital initiatives (e.g. MSU's Institutional Repository using DSpace and locally hosted online journals using Open Journal Systems). Reports to the Administrator of Systems. Mississippi State University Libraries has a highly collaborative environment where excellence in job performance, scholarship and service are values and required.

Sample Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Evaluates, recommends and implements metadata schemas and policies across digital collections and digital initiatives;
  • Collaborates with stakeholders on metadata schemas for digital objects and datasets, develops workflows for digital object metadata creation and is an active participant in the implementation of digital projects, digital initiatives and metadata migrations;
  • Coordinates and oversees quality control of non-MARC metadata for digital collections and digital initiatives;
  • Serves as the lead on the ASERL Deeply Rooted project by serving on the steering committee, aggregating and harvesting metadata from participating institutions using a variety of technologies including OAI/PMH tools, serves as the liaison with the Digital Public Library of America (DPLA).
