Technology Development Librarian and Assistant Professor (Wichita State University Libraries, Kansas)
Wichita State University Libraries (UL) seeks knowledgeable, service-oriented, and highly motivated applicants for the position of Technology Development Librarian. This position fills a key role in the development and use of emerging information and web technologies to enhance library services and collections. The position is a member of the Library Technologies Unit and reports to the Director of Library Technologies and to the Senior Associate Dean. The Technology Development Librarian provides functional support for the University Libraries' major application platforms including the ILS and discovery service as well as the University Libraries' website. The position also participates in the University Libraries’ instruction program including the creation of digital learning objects. Success in this position requires that the Technology Development Librarian use a combination of knowledge and skills from both library and information sciences to advance the University Libraries’ initiatives.   Required qualifications: Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited Library/Information Science program and experience/coursework using MS Windows, HTML, and CSS Knowledge of bibliographic utilities such as OCLC Knowledge of MARC and RDA formats Proficiency in standard web browser display and application technologies such as HTML, XML, CSS, JavaScript, CGI, XSLT, Perl, PHP, and APIs Knowledge of and ability to work and create custom reports using Microsoft Access or other relational databases Evidence of strong written and oral communication skills Demonstrated strong skills in project management including organizing, prioritizing, and multi-tasking Evidence of strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team and potential for scholarship and professional service   Preferred qualifications: Undergraduate education in STEM areas or graphic design Coursework in web-design or database design Experience working with shell scripting Experience with design, configuration, management, and trouble-shooting an ILS especially ExLibris Voyager Experience working with the administrative or customization of products such as ILLiad, LibGuides or CONTENTdm Experience in using SQL Experience working with Windows Server, Linux Redhat, and JAVA Experience with teaching and course design for students.   Position includes: 12-month contract; excellent professional development support, vacation and benefits, including TIAA-CREF. Faculty librarians have tenure eligible appointments with rank. Offers of employment are contingent on satisfactory completion of a criminal background check as required by the Kansas Board of Regents. WSU is an AA/EOE.
